Sherlee Johnson has finally found a protector in the mysterious being known as the Stranger, but now she may be the only one who can save his life!

Sherlee and the Stranger survive—but at a cost. The weight of what happened won’t let go. A distant camp offers hope, but danger moves in the shadows. Something ancient awakens, and what falls from above may not be salvation. As Heaven arrives and Beliafon strikes, old truths rise—and the past won’t stay buried.

Is Sherlee the child Boots warned Spawn about? The group is closing in on the safety of the Carrier of Cities, but the Stranger’s presence is a danger they can’t outrun.

As they climb the Carrier, Simon Pure recalls how he should have died at Spawn’s hand, only to fall into Hell, where no vampire belongs. He should have burned, but instead… he found God.

Hell doesn’t forgive, and it doesn’t forget. The Triarchs demand their debt be paid, forcing the group to split up in a last, desperate attempt to meet an impossible price. To survive, SHERLEE needs to earn her place in Hell the only way it understands… In blood. Vox knows that, in the end, there is only one way forward. AN ALL-OUT RAID ON PURGATORY.

Sherlee and the group are finally granted entry into the Carrier of Cities, but that puts them exactly where Beliafon wants them. As he digs into their minds, some of the answers Sherlee’s been chasing finally come to light… and they’re not what she expected to find.

As Beliafon digs through the Stranger’s mind in search of answers, Sherlee comes face-to-face with what was taken from her. To move forward, she’ll have to fight her inner demons. The problem is, they look just like her.

Sherlee finally comes face-to-face with her killer, Billy Kincaid, and with him, her true memories begin to return. What she remembers changes everything. If she was never truly gone… then where has she been?
