Slash & Burn (2015)

"Another day, another hot date. Firefighter Rosheen Hayes takes her relationships with conflagration seriously, whether it's the trigger-happy burn victim with his sights on her partner or a chance encounter igniting memories of arson at the orphanage. But is she the super-sleuth fire-whisperer or twisted firestarter? This new ongoing series from writer Si Spencer has all the mystery and intrigue of his hit Vertigo miniseries BODIES, with art by Max Dunbar (Dungeons & Dragons) and veteran inker Ande Parks (The Irredeemable Ant-Man), SLASH & BURN is a tricky thriller that explores both the excitement and the consequences of succumbing to one's darkest impulses."

"As Rosheen wraps up the case of the trigger-happy corpse, her quest to find the face from her past sparks memories of her childhood days of arson and infamy. Exploding squirrels, broken fingers and a fistful of doodles lead Rosheen closer to an explosive showdown with the Matchstick Man."

"There's an arsonist on the loose, and the victims are all figures from Rosheen Haye's hidden past. With a police detective nosing around in her business, and the body count rising, the one-time pyromaniac-turned-firefighter is starting to worry that the elephant in the room will turn out to be her."

"The past continues to flare up in Rosheen's face, fanning the flames of chaos that threaten to incinerate her carefully constructed cover. Innocent childhood indiscretions and messy grown-up gropings collide in a blaze of feathers, funerals, fracking and flamingos. "

"As the Sparky Club body count rises and the list of suspects dwindles, Rosheen is all too aware of the motives fueling this fire-and the most effective way to put it out. But can murder ever be justified? Find out in the explosive climax to the first arc of this exciting new series."

"While Rosheen recovers in a hospital bed, there's a literal change of perspective as Mayor Brand reminisces on the fate of the Sparky Club while doing his best to exercise control over Detective Morrow's prying-but what's the detective's secret? "
