Empty Man (2014)

"WHY WE LOVE IT: There's nothing scarier than horror that hits home-a tale of terror only one or two steps removed from our reality. THE EMPTY MAN is a dystopic version of the world we know, where a terrifying disease has taken on almost deific connotations. WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT: Cullen Bunn (THE SIXTH GUN, VENOM) and Vanesa R. Del Rey (HIT) are two of the most exciting talents in the industry, and perfectly in sync on this haunting new crime procedural. WHAT IT'S ABOUT: It's been one year since the first reported case of the Empty Man disease, and no drug has been able to slow its progress. The cause is unknown, and the symptoms include fits of rage, hideous hallucinations, suicidal dementia, followed by death, or a near lifeless, 'empty' state of catatonia. As murder cults rise nationwide, the FBI and CDC enter a joint investigation of the Empty Man, hoping to piece together clues to stop the cult and uncover a cure. "

"Agents Langford and Jensen have uncovered a hidden Witness Cult in the middle of American suburbia they suspect is behind the kidnappings plaguing the country, but will they catch up to Markoff and Patient Zero before the Empty Man virus strikes again?"

"After the harrowing attack at the precinct, Langford and Jensen continue to follow the tenuous leads they've uncovered, traversing deeper and deeper into the dark underbelly of the Witness cult. But will they find the kidnapped children before Patient Zero strikes again? "

"After circling around the truth, Langford and Jensen have finally discovered Markoff's trail. The bad news? It leads right into the horrific nightmare world of Patient Zero's psyche."

"Having barely survived the journey through Patient Zero's hellscape, Langford and Jensen close in on the location of the kidnapped children. But will the Witnesses make them see the glory of the Empty Man before the agents can come to the rescue?"

"Final issue! Agents Langford and Jensen finally come facetoface with the supernatural culprits who kidnapped the Simmons children, while Sister makes a lastditch attempt to free her brother from the clutches of the sadistic Reverend Markoff."
